Tell stories people play

Build interactive stories with branching paths, light game mechanics, and multiplayer sessions. No code required, but there's a scripting engine if you want to get weird with it.

What is this, exactly?

Think of it like a slide deck that fights back. You lay out scenes, wire up choices, and sprinkle in variables and conditions. Your readers don't just read. They make decisions, track inventory, roll dice, and argue with their friends about which door to open.

If you've ever wanted to run a one-shot tabletop session without learning a rulebook, build a visual novel without learning Unity, or make a choose-your-own-adventure that remembers what happened three chapters ago? That's what this is for.

More than branching text

Multiplayer from the start

Run stories for groups in real-time. Campfire mode lets you share a session where the story decides how choices work: majority vote, first to answer, or full consensus. Great for game nights.

Visual editor, not a code editor

Drag components into scenes. Text, choices, images, counters, timers, inputs. All blocks you can arrange. The editor feels like building a presentation, not writing a program.

Scripting when you need it

xript gives you variables, conditions, randomization, and lifecycle hooks in a sandboxed runtime. Powerful enough for real game mechanics, sandboxed so nobody's browser gets wrecked. Totally optional.

Where we are right now

epixtory is in active development. The editor works, stories publish and play, and the scripting engine runs. Some things are rough around the edges. Multiplayer is still being built. The asset library is small.

You're not signing up for a finished product. You're getting in early, and what you build (and break) changes what gets built next.

What you can do right now

  • Create an account and build a story in the editor
  • Play stories other authors have published
  • Break things and tell us what went wrong
  • Share something you made (we want to see it)
